International questions

Can I undertake this degree as an overseas student?

Yes you can provided you meet the same conditions as UK students; i.e. a job which can form the basis of your research into your practice, and an employer prepared to support you, if not financially, then in allowing you to carry out the research within your workplace hours. You will also need to participate on a regular basis, however as discussion work is asynchronous you can choose the times to suit you.

It is also important that you understand that this is very much a participatory degree and not one you can do in isolation. You must base your research on your workplace practice and then convey the learning from that research to others using a range of technology to ensure an appropriate format for each aspect of information.

Will it make any difference where I live and work?

The degree is fully online with no face-to-face lectures/tutorials. Therefore you can complete the work in any country provided you can communicate to learning facilitators and fellow students/researchers, and present your completed assignments in good English. This obviously means good Internet access at work or at home so that you can access the websites regularly. You may also be asked to provide proof of your workplace and role within it.

You may need to satisfy our university of the quality of your English depending on the country you come from and the university entrance requirements for that country. Please check on Anglia Ruskin University information pages for overseas students.

How much does it cost?

This will depend on where you live, and again you will have to check the Anglia Ruskin University information pages for this.

If you live in an EU country, the cost is the same as a UK student; i.e. £1800 per year. However if you live in a non-EU country you will have to pay the agreed international fees for this degree course - currently £6675 per year. As the course is fully online you will not have to visit the UK unless you choose to attend your graduation ceremony in just 3 years time! You will need to provide your own hardware, basic software and an internet connection (Please see our FAQ for further details).

I an informed, because I live outside of the EU, that the cost of a degree is substantially higher. Why is this?

The fee charged for UK/EU students is £1800 which is topped up by a grant from HEFCE. Non-EU students do not attract HEFCE funding, which is why the fee they pay is higher. As the degree can be completed in only 3 years yet is classed as part-time, we are able to charge a fee that is approximately half what it would cost a full-time student.

Are there any overseas students already undertaking the degree?

Yes. We already have graduates and students from Europe, the Middle East and Asia.
